What We Do
CPTL aims to support the development of structured frameworks for inclusive national dialogue. By strengthening Zambia’s long-term capacity for conflict prevention, we seek to ensure that political and social tensions are managed through principled engagement rather than polarization.
CPTL seeks to contribute technical expertise to regional peace initiatives in alignment with the Southern African Development Community, the African Union, and the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa peace and security frameworks. Our long-term objective is to help strengthen Zambia’s role as a constructive contributor to continental dialogue and mediation efforts.
We are committed to advancing inclusive peace systems that recognize the central roles of women and youth. CPTL intends to design programs that support the practical implementation of Women, Peace and Security (WPS) and Youth, Peace and Security (YPS) commitments at both community and national levels.
Through a proposed Peace and Leadership Academy, CPTL plans to promote ethical governance and values-based leadership. We aim to develop professional training programs that equip current and emerging leaders with both the moral foundation and technical skills required for principled public service.
CPTL is establishing a Peace and Dialogue Research Observatory to bridge the gap between research and policy practice. Planned initiatives include policy briefs, long-term governance research, and a flagship 2026 Conference on Zambian Peace Diplomacy Since Independence.

Our strategic direction is guided by the vision of the African Union’s Agenda 2063, the peace and security architecture of the Southern African Development Community, and the principles of United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 16 on peace, justice, and strong institutions.
Our Work
The National Forum on Peace and Reconciliation held in Maputo brought together government leaders, political actors, civil society, traditional authorities, and development partners to advance Mozambique’s peace and reconciliation agenda.
The Mutobo Demobilization and Reintegration Centre in Rwanda is a cornerstone of the country’s commitment to peace, stability, and post-conflict recovery.
Rwanda’s bilateral security agreements with Mozambique and the Central African Republic (CAR) stand as strong examples of African solutions to African problems, grounded in solidarity, mutual consent, and regional ownership of peace and security.
